Root Cellars in the News

Authors Steve Maxwell and Jennifer MacKenzie have been creating buzz around root cellars in the news with their recently published The Complete Root Cellar Book.  Food Security Network's Executive Director Kristie Jameson was asked to comment for a Globe and Mail article called "The food storage secret our grandparents knew" about Root Cellars Rock! and our long history of root cellaring in this province. The Star also had an article the week before called "Root cellar resurgence".

Newfoundland and Labrador is the place to be in Canada when it comes to root cellars, just ask the folks in Elliston, root cellar capital of the world! Would you like to learn more about building your own? You can check out the excellent book Root Cellaring by Mike & Nancy Bubel at your local branch of the Newfoundland & Labrador Public Library and stay tuned to this blog for more resources to come and some spotlights on NL root cellars and people who built and use them.
