Canada’s National Organic Week is the largest annual celebration of organic food, farming and products across the country.  Click here for a short fact sheet on what Organic Week is.

This year, Organic Week runs from September 21st to the 28th and there are many events lined up across Canada and in Newfoundland and Labrador. Check out the Organic Week Schedule to find more information on local events to attend.

Blow Me Down Community Garden Open Garden Day

When: Saturday, September 28 Time: 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm Where: Off Lundrigan Drive (towards the cross country ski club), Corner Brook

The Blow Me Down Community Garden is celebrating National Organic Week by opening their doors and inviting the public to their garden and greenhouse site for an Open Garden Day. Gardeners will be giving short tours of the garden and greenhouse to visitors, and refreshments will be served. The Blow Me Down Community Garden is a 35 plot garden and greenhouse that was established in 2010 by the Western Environment Centre.

Real Food Market Sale & Prizes

When: September 23 - 27 Where: 642 Logy Bay Road, Logy Bay, NL

Real Food Market is a local organic & natural food grocery store which sources locally whenever possible. To celebrate Organic Week, they are giving their customers freebies and a grand prize of a basket of fresh organic vegetables.

Tour at The Organic Farm

When: Saturday, October 5 When: 2:30 pm Where: 42 Churchillls Road, Portugal Cove

Farm tour at The Organic Farm including a vist to five greenhouses with a discussion of ventilation problems and an introduction to the use of geothermal heat.
