January 31, 2025 - A coalition of four community food organizations across Atlantic Canada will soon launch a grant program to support nonprofit school food organizations in the region to acquire the infrastructure needed to strengthen and expand their work. A total of $1,000,000 will be distributed through this fund in 2025. Food First NL will serve as the lead partner, responsible for receiving and distributing the funds and reporting on how they’re used.
Funded under the School Food Infrastructure Fund (SFIF) by Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada, this program is being designed and operated by a coalition of nonprofit organizations representing the four Atlantic provinces: Food First NL, Food For All NB, Nourish Nova Scotia, and the PEI Home and School Federation.
Over the coming weeks, the coalition partners will be finalizing the design and timelines for the program in anticipation of applications opening in March. Interested organizations are encouraged to follow the lead organizations on social media or email SFIF@foodfirstnl.ca to be added to a mailing list for updates about the program.
